Anyone in, or involved with, the medical school can join the LMSS. As in its constitution states, the role of the LMSS to promote the well being, social life, sporting activities and charity fund-raising for all its members. You only have to ask anyone studying here to know that we also provide the best social events in any medical student’s calendar! These include the Annual Medical Ball and the infamous Annual Smoking concert (or “Smoker”)

Charities

Hello all,
Hope you're all having a wonderful summer. As charity representatives we are writing to ask you for charities you would like us to raise money for. Normally we decide this ourselves, but we decided as we want everybody to contribute to our charities, we should let you suggest charities so that we can evaluate the general preferences of the medical school student body. If you don't have a specific charity, feel free to write something general along the lines of: mental illness, child poverty, domestic abuse ect. With so many worthwhile causes we can't please you all, but we can certainly try our best! So let us know, ideally before term starts again. If you could entitle your message CHARITY, that would be very helpful and send it to

Wanted:

4 models for Sonnography (For first years; That’s what you look at unborn babies with).
When: 2 days is from 9-5 on Thurs 9th September and 9 - 4 on Fri 10th September.

Basically a load of doctors at Alderhey need more practice with their Ultrasound technique and need some models.

The only requirements are that you must be free on the date you sign up and be a ‘thinish’ build. Now we’re not talking Kate Moss, coke-head kind of thin just not too over-weight for the US to be difficult. You must also be willing to expose your legs, abdomens, axillas, necks and arms. You must also have no problem with being smeared in US jelly!

You will get £30 pounds a day and lunch. You may also learn a bit of anatomy/ sonoanatomy! (I have also been informed that there will be a lot of time just sitting around reading chatting, but you will be welcome to watch the lectures).

Glasgow Field Trip Exchange.

When: Weekend of 11/2/2011-13/2/2011 and another weekend TBC

Price: This will depend on numbers but will be no more that the split cost of the return coach and of course a bit of spending money.

Weekend of 11/2/2010-13/2/2010: A load of Glaswegians invade our Medical School (well, probably the raz) for a weekend of fun and frolics. We are expecting about 30-35 people. So we need a team of people at least with similar number to put up some competition and show those Scottish whose boss! We will need to put them up for the night and therefore offer them a bed/sofa/bath/floor to sleep on.

The Saturday we will meet again in the park probably for a game of dodge ball and to start “warming up” for the Saturday night.

Sunday: They go home.

Then on aamother date TBC, we go and visit them and they put us up for the weekend.
